Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Take-Along Projector Soother Review

I bought this for my son's overnights at my mother's house.It doesn't move and the music only stays on for 12 minutes tops.At my house I have the homedics projector which is 100 times better than this one.There is a timer with different time selections on it.It can play up to an hour and I believe the minimum time is 15 minutes.This projector can not compete with the homedics projector which also has a choice of 3 different discs.There are also a variety of sounds to choose from.Buying this product was a mistake unfortunately babys r us does not carry the homedics which is why I bought this one for my mothers house.I am going to return it and pick up the homedics projector which they sell at walmart for less than it cost on amazon.

Yookidoo KaleidoDisk Review

I am surprised there are no reviews for this toy yet, my 8 month old ADORES it. It is very unusual, well designed, and hard to describe! The toy comes with 4 musical "disks", two play soft lullaby musical and two play more updeat tunes. There are also many other features around the base of the toy that would appeal to babies of different ages- levers, knobs, mirrors, squeakers, spinners, lights, balls, etc.

My son heads straight for the toy as soon as he sees it.He uses it in many different ways- he likes to bang the plastic balls together, turn the music on and off with the spinning level, play with the beads, flip the toy over and inspect the inner workings, and also use it as a prop to stand with.It is versitale enough that he seems to continue to find new ways to play with it as he gets older.

For a younger baby the toy can be mounted to a crib and used as a soother, we did not purchase it until he was 5 months old so we never used it this way.It would be a really good buy for parents of a new baby, would definitley get quite a bit of use out of it over the years.

My only concerns have been that he likes to reach in and "stop" the disks while they are spinning and I am worried that might burn out the motor but so far no signs at all of this happening.

Fisher-Price Select-a-Show Soother Review

I received this soother as a gift for my son when he was just a few months old and we still use it every day (he's now almost two years old.) It is simply fantatastic. The things I like best about it include the volume control, the duration control (up to 15 minutes of music and lights and I couldn't find any other product to top it), the range of sounds (classical music, classical lullabies, and nature sounds), and the ability to change the display to more complex visual images as your baby grows. I just can't say enough about this item and felt I needed to address some of the complaints listed among these reviews:

The lights aren't bright enough- The lights are plenty bright in a dark room or at night. Yes, if you use it when put your child down for a nap during the day, you probably will not be able to see the projection. If the lights were any brighter, I would be concerned it would keep my child up rather than soothing him to sleep.

Images are upside down- The plastic card that is included will allow you to flip the images over if you are concerned, but really, your baby will not notice if it is projecting on the ceiling.

The images don't move- I found with other mobiles and soothers that project and move, that the moving parts were loud and distracting. With this product, the lights come on and off with different colors in time with the music. I think that's plenty interaction for baby to sleep.

The images are blurry- I don't understand this complaint. I've used this soother in several different rooms at different heights, in different houses and never had a problem. The unit does have a tilt option to adjust the view.

It's a boring show- This product is for babies to soothe them to sleep. If you over-stimulate babies, they don't sleep - simple as that.

No plug in option- I found that even when using this soother multiple times during nap times during the day, and at night, and in the middle of the night when my baby awoke, every single day, I only changed the batteries twice a year. The lack of a plug only gives me flexibility to move it wherever I want. I'd rather have it this way.

Net-net, I think this is the best soother with light show available, and my baby and I love it. I recommend it highly and give it as a gift whenever possible.

Gund Baby Deetle Activity Toy Review

This is a great toy for early development.The bright, contrasting colors and the mirror are great for newborns.Our son was staring at the mirror at two weeks, and pushing on the toy by three.It is the first toy that he has truly interacted with.Plus, the look of the toy is fun and whimsical, so it looks great in the nursery.

I will be adding this to our repertoire of new baby gifts to give in the future.

Fisher-Price Rainforest Waterfall Peek-a-Boo Soother Review

I replaced our old Ocean Wonders Aquarium soother with this Rainforest Waterfall version about a month and a half ago.The Aquarium was still working and our baby liked the lights and music, but I was looking for something that would play for a longer period of time.With the Aquarium, I had to go in her room and press the button a couple of times before she would fall back asleep.Not fun at 3 or 4 in the morning when all I want to do is fall back asleep.I had read that the Waterfall soother plays for up to 18 minutes, so I thought I'd check it out.

The soother has 3 different length settings: lights, music/sounds, and movement for 6 minutes; lights and music/sounds for 12 minutes; music/sounds only for 18 minutes.There are 3 settings for the sounds: rainforest sounds without music; rainforest sounds and lullabies; rainforest sounds and classical music.There are 3 volume settings as well.

I have ours set for 12 minutes of sounds and lullabies and I rarely have to go back in her room and press the button a second time.She almost instantly settles down once the music starts.If I happen to put her down for a nap or for bed while she's still awake, she'll quietly watch the lights and fall asleep on her own.And I'll admit that hearing the songs and rainforest noises over the baby monitor is soothing and relaxing as I try to fall back asleep.

My only complaint is that the lights seem REALLY bright for something that is supposed to lull a baby to sleep.I ended up covering ours with a light flannel blanket to dull the light a bit.The baby can't see the critters, but since I don't have them set to move, it's not really a big deal.

Despite the bright lights, we're happy with this soother.

Fisher-Price Precious Planet Melodies & Motion Soother Review

I have bought many things from Amazon over the years but have never felt the need to rate an item until now.This product is simply FANTASTIC!!!!! I have a 4 month old, and she is my first baby. I picked this up at Target a couple of days ago as an impulse buy - and I'm so glad that I did.

My husband and I had received many many many things prior to the baby being born so we as new parents had to 'trial and error' all the new stuff as well as get to know what it was like being a Mom/Dad.Let me tell you - when you put the baby to sleep either for a nap or for their bedtime normally they listen/ watch the mobile or have something similar attached to the crib. (We have the mobile AND an octopus thingy that plays a lullaby).The annoying thing with these are that you have to stand there and keep winding them back up or pulling the cord on the toy again. This wakes up the baby - not to mention that they don't last very long!!I know I have stood by the crib (exhausted) many nights having to pull the cord up to 5 or 6 times before she dozes off.The Precious Planet M&M Soother only needs you to push the button once, it lasts a LONG time. YAYYY!!! Also it has 3 different volume settings as well as 3 different types of sleepy time sounds: lullabies, classical music, and nature sounds! (I'm quite fond of the classical one). It also lights up and the animals move around slowly as to not overly stimulate the baby at bedtime. You have the option of it playing music without the lights as well.Take my (new) motherly recommendation....Don't bother with buying a mobile - they are cute, but useless.All you need is this product. I absolutely love it and only wish I would have found it sooner. Get it, it's worth every penny!

Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Soother Review

I purchased this after reading all of the reviews on here, mainly due to the long play time, and the gradual shutting down of the crib soother. Apon reciept, the picture here does look much different than the item does in person, as far as the screen - but it doesn't make me any less happy with the product.
One review complained about the volume, buy my soother does have 2 volume levels, and I think even the loud one, isn't very loud. The quiet is perfect.
One review also complained about 2 units that stopped working. I have discovered why! When the batteries begin to fail, the until stops working in phases. All of a sudden the motion wouldn't work on our unit. Because I had read the previous reviews, I initially thought my players was broken too because we still had light and music.
Then a few days later, the light would only work for about 5 minutes at a time, but we still had long periods of music. So I thought yep, its garbage.But then my husband said, well, lets just change the batteries.
And like new - the whole thing works again!!
So I'm guessing that the gradual systems stopping is meant to be an indicator that the batteries are wearing down.It doesn't mean the unit is defective.I didn't check it at first, because I thought they were new batteries - but it turns out my husband and just put in the ones from our old crib player.
So with this revelation, I can say I am perfectly happy with this player. I love the length of play, the gradual shut down and I really LOVE the remote function. I'm happy!
